The fourth studio album, and second official release with Translation Loss Records, CENOTES, has been labeled Giant Squid's "guitar album". An exotic sludge riff fest that finds the band tuning lower than ever, and diving deep into its career long obsession with middle-eastern and mediterannean vibes, while backing it up with explosive and acrobatic drumming, featuring the return of drummer Scotty Sutton, previously only showcased on the rare and bombastic 7" release of "Sutter's Fort".
An EP in name only, for while the album is only five tracks, it heaves and flows for over 35 minutes long. Immaculate production is found once again from Matt Bayles (Isis, Mastodon, Botch, The Sword). The CD comes wrapped in a beautiful digi-pak, featuring artwork from Giant Squid guitarist/vocalist and illustrator, Aaron John Gregory.
